In the wonderful setting of the island of San Pietro, in the south-west of Sardinia, at Carloforte, his town, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, has site for nearly ten years one of the most famous national and International food and wine events
In this particular corner of the world, for centuries, the destinies of men and fish of great beauty and infinite goodness, the Tuna, are intertwined.
Here the relationship between man and tuna has become tradition, culture, past history, but yet to be told, it is tradition that inevitably is renewed.
Here the relationship between man and tuna is a rope to grab, to try to maintain a vital balance for all.

From May 31 to June 3, 2012, in the picturesque setting of the small town of Carlisle, a popular Italian tourist destination, located on the Island of San Pietro, southwest of Sardinia, returns to the tenth edition of Girotonno "Men, on the stories and flavors routes of tuna ", the international food and wine festival on the quality tuna that celebrates the tradition of the trap, through cultural activities and entertainment.
The International Culinary Competiton
Among “unique dishes" and delicious "garnish"
Authentic "dish" of "The Girotonno" is the international Gourmet food competition. With recipes that have as main ingredient the Bluefin Tuna, the best chefs from the five continents will present their imaginative culinary creation to a panel of experienced journalists with the task to elect, at the end of the event, the winning chef.
The Squares of International Flavours
Spread through the center of Carlisle, the "Tasting Squares", offer the possibility to the large audience to taste the "culinary heritage" of the different peoples involved. A journey to discover the flavors, aromas and colors of the nations that they represent, and apart from the traditional Tuna dishes of Carloforte, you can taste the "exotic" dishes prepared by chefs from the five continents.
The tasting workshops
Certainly one of the most prestigious and popular culinary events, including those open to the public, is represented by the "tasting workshops", which this year will present the thematic culinary laboratories, where the chefs involved will reveal the secrets of the best recipes using the Bluefin tuna, the most valuable and privileged ingredient of their research and creativity.
Carloforte Buskers Festival
Buskers: jugglers, clowns, singers, musicians, small bands, acrobats, contortionists, fire eaters, poets, storytellers, mimes, living statues, and many others,is the most immediate form of entertainment because it comes from the natural desire to perform in front of an audience or passing crowds in places that are not theaters or circuses, but mainley the squares and streets of our cities.
Also this year, for the fifth consecutive year "The Girotonno" will offer his unique and special "Buskers Menu".

It is with great satisfaction for those who have organised and created the event this year which will certainly be worthy of the reputation of previous editions.
